Order form, plus editorials

1)From the web administrator:
To place an order, you must give your name and address on the order form. Seems obvious, yeah, but we got one last week that lacked both. And yes, those boxes on the order form are mandatory for submission in javascript, but for unknown reasons some people turn off javascript in their machines. It seems you can dumb down the mousetrap, but there’s always a dumber mouse. Try again.

2)The following are editorials from one of the owners who doesn’t often blog, but he feels really strongly about these issues:

Eight Bells

Goodbye Farrah Fawcett, we will miss you, your red swimsuit poster and your crazy antics on late night TV shows.
Goodbye Ed McMahon, I will never watch the Publishers Clearing House commercials quite the same way, and lastly
Goodbye Michael Jackson, you made some of the greatest music ever recorded. Anyone that says the bass line from Billie Jean or the dance sequence from the Thriller video are not some of the greatest performances of their respective art forms are …. well… just wrong, they are. PERIOD.

Dessel Belgium – June 26, 2009 part B

I would like to make a comment, nay a social commentary about the coverage of the Michael Jackson story.
Look we get it, he was famous, he was talented, he was quirky, he was well loved around the world — even though he may have had a darker side, but that story has been covered ad-nauseum. No what I am writing about is how a particular network lets call it See-En-En and one of their on air personalities, lets call this one, well it doesn’t matter, it’s the old guy who interviews “B” level celebs, and asks them inane questions about their political views. (I don’t care what Tori Spelling thinks about the homeless problem in America)
As far as I am concerned this man treated this sad day with all the compassion of a street mugging. I think one of his quotes was “Oh yeah and Farrah Fawcett died today too”. I pray her family was not watching. Then later in the broadcast, after cutting off Jesse Jackson, he brought on a blonde, ahem, “reporter” from Entertainment Tonight with breaking news. She had found some jackass, probably a paparazzi, that had taken picture of MJ as he was being wheeled out of his house on the gurney. Sheet covered, oxygen mask on, eyes closed, probably already passed away. As he looked at the picture he noted to the blonde “Now that’s good reporting”. She beamed like a 12 year old that got an “A” in history. And said something akin to “we are always on the job”. I cannot fathom why he told her that but he did. I personally found it despicable, tasteless, and below a real news organization. I felt dirty just watching it.
Then, the final straw. The old guy was interviewing some famous folks about their memories of MJ. Most of it was pretty innocuous. Cher recalled how MJ loved her glittery socks she got from Bob Mackey, Celine Dion spoke of working in the studio with him, Madonna waxed poetic of his sweetness, then Randy Jackson. (No relation, the American Idol guy… dog.) Randy was remembering a time in the studio…. Then the old guy cut him off…. BREAKING NEWS. A helicopter was taking off from the top of the hospital, probably with the body, going…. Somewhere?
Then, at that point was one of the stupidest, most thoughtless, unkind, and downright pointless things I have ever heard a human being utter came out of this mans mouth, “So Randy, I am not sure… do you know where the helicopter is going with the remains……?”
Why in the hell would Randy Jackson…. No relation, know where they were going, he had just told you he had not talked to MJ for a couple of years……. And the last time I checked, being a judge on American Idol in no way makes you an expert in the goings on of the L.A. County Coroner’s Office….. Hell, why don’t you ask Jack Klugman, at least he played one on TV.
Sorry this is long, but I feel I had to say it…. All of it. Lets let the news organizations cover the news and let the tabloids cover the celebrity/bigfoot baby/alien stories. And for God sakes let the families mourn, and let the fans be sad, You have a big voice and a large pulpit, think a bit about what you are saying.
